Survey questions asked of patients gave the following results:

    • No (78.1%)
    • Insurance from job or spouse (7.6%)
    • Plan to purchase insurance themselves (2.0%)
    • Government assistance (Medicaid, Title 19, etc.) (9.3%)
    • Other (3.0%)
  • Reason for not seeing a dentist
    • No insurance/didn't think it was affordable (65.3%)
    • No dentist who would take a payment plan (7.0%)
    • Did not think it was necessary to see a dentist (4.2%)
    • Afraid of seeing dentist/receiving dental care (4.8%)
    • No dentist available in patient's area (2.1%)
    • No dentist available to take patient's insurance (3.3%)
    • Dental appointment offered but patient couldn't take it (1.5%)
    • Didn't know who to call (1.8%)
    • Other (10.0%)
